Saree Refurbished

This is my old saree, which I am very fond of. I planned to wear this saree on previous day of grand family function. But that morning when I wore it and walked few steps it tore at the border, then I had to change.

I couldn't make up my mind to discard the saree, the saree was still usable. So what I did????

Bought a brocade fabric matching the saree, cut the size needed for pallu, then cut the required breadth of border properly aligning the pattern lengthwise.

Stitched the border right side over right side on the saree bottom. Also it required two saree falls which I stitched along the other edge right side over right side.

Turn the fabric stitched a top stitch tucking the falls underneath it so that the top stitch catches the falls below. I also was left with strips of less breadth while aligning the border which I used to make the saree as double side border saree.

To compliment the gorgeous look made aari embroidery to suit the design of pallu.

Still I stand to gain. I sold off the border and pallu for Rs.900 which is more that I spent for fabric around Rs.600. Even if you spend for stitching another 200 bucks and for blouse I feel worth as you get to retain the saree which will be awed by others.
