Few sets I made last week

My co-sis had gifted me few strings of red and green beads. I had those pendants and spacers in my stock. Combined everything and you seeing the result. This prompted me to do further few sets, thereby depleting my stock and now waiting for my daughter's exams to get over so that I can go and refill.

Teachers' Day Gift

On September 4th evening by 7.30 my daughter requested to buy few pens as gifts to give her teachers on Teachers' Day, that is on 5th.

We all know all kids love their teachers and they would like  their gifts to be the best one to give their teachers. So I suggested her that I already have four pouches made of stashed fabric which I thought I will put to some use and will make two more which she can give to her all 6 teachers. She was more than happy. Here are those,

These two pouches I made on 4th night from the remaining dupatta cloth after stitching a frock for her long back.

Following are the ones I had already made out of again from cloths after stitching salwars. Embellished with few stones here and there.

Pattu Paavadai 4 & 5

My little co-sis is more than happy to send me these cute pictures of pattu pavadai stitched by me for her cute eldest daughter, when she was one a year and half back. This cool blue set is as same as my daughter's (which is my first post in this section). So I was able use the roll of zari I bought already.

The Green set is another one, which I embellished with stones and motifs.

Don't you think cutie little pie will make these outfits gorgeous wearing it!!!

Here is what I did with Hubby's Jeans

What do you do with your Hubby's worn out jeans or if it needs alteration. Here is what I did. I made the jeans into three fourths, the balance one fourth of one leg was transformed as a much useful bottle holder. Click for more to know what I did with another leg. Beware Men folks!!!

Pattu Paavadai 3

This one is another pattu paavadai is stitched for my daughter. She always wanted puff sleeves and here is one.

Pattu Paavadai 2

REverytime I used to search for the Oddiyanam (traditional hip belt worn on Paavadai or saree) I really wish i stitch one on the blouse (sattai) itself. Finally I did this one. So no more searching at least for this one.

The Lengthiest Lesson I learnt in my life

This post contains the lengthiest lesson I learnt in my life. So beware this post is lengthy. All in my family know this. So why don’t I let you also know? Definitely, by this I am going to impress everyone that I am not a loser, I am determined, I am a learner.

My Encounter with Edibility

No No. I am not a bad cook at all. Anybody who had eaten my preparations will certify this. Even my Father-in-law had once claimed to my husband that he has got a wife with good culinary skills like his wife (that is Mother-in-law - MIL). Oh! I hear you saying “Ok. Ok. Enough of self-praise. Come to the point.”

Message of Life

Kolams or Rangoli as we all know is a cherished tradition of South India. It is drawn in front of the house with coarse rice powder to invite Goddess Lakshmi, to provide food to ants and other small insects. During festivals it takes colourful forms. Tamizh month Margazhi is close to heart month for all kolam lovers. On all days of Margazhi, not only young, all women take pride in drawing big kolams in front of their houses or apartments with Great Spirit. I am one among them.

My favorite Ganesha from invitation

As a habit I was browsing for some new crafts.  I came across a new term called decoupage.

In a few days time,  my dear hubby brought a wedding invitation of his colleague. The invitation was itself unique, my eye catcher was my favorite Ganesha in that. I had been saving the invitation till the wedding was over, as I didn't want to dent it before the important day.

SIR POST

In April I see many of us are getting nostalgic, as it had always been holiday season here. All have their childhood memories of playing on the streets, the time spent with grand parents, things we learned from them and it goes endless.

The Rocking Chair

It has been a week now since I had come from Madurai after attending 60 th birthday (sashtiapthapoorthi) of my second uncle (maama). Enjoyed the function to the core as a family get-together at my first uncle's home. Still my mind is just there pondering over..... Well not the function really. It was the rocking chair occupying my mind and brain. What is so special ? You would ask. Now you could see the white line spiraling in front of my face just before the flashback like in movies. Rewinding my memory just over thirty years.

Designer Blouse 10

Don't blame me if you think it is to much of criss-cross . It is because I had ample scope to design the blouse as the blouse detached from saree had four zari borders.  Constantly I  was changing my idea, ended up stitching this one. For sleeves too the borders were attached separately as I had left over border.

Designer Blouse 9

This one is latest stitched one. Borders kept vertically. Attached a rectangular piece of cloth in the center. Ended up having bigger piece than required. So what did I do????

Designer Blouse 8

This is the blouse, for first time stitched for other than relatives. My friend gave me a free hand to design to my taste for her daughter's pattu paavadai, which she had taken for 2012 Diwali. She understood me very well that how long I take to decide the decide or simply you can call me lazy, gave me this a month prior to the occasion.

First marked the measurements, cut, attached only the neckline with right side over the lining, turned it over. Then pasted all motifs before hand stitching it only on to the blouse, so that stitches are not seen underneath the lining cloth. About sleeves.....
